Welcome to my home! I wish you were actually here in person so I could give you a big hug and pour you a cup of coffee while we sit at the kitchen table and talk for hours.
I wanted to keep our Christmas decor simple this year, you know, with the wedding a week after Christmas. I wanted to just buy a real tree and decorate with only lights this year, but that didn’t happen. Even though we brought down all of the boxes from the attic, I barely opened them. I just decorated a few nooks and crannies around the house, enough where it looks like Christmas, but not too much where I spend days decorating. Here are just a few of my favorite spots around the house…..
My favorite thing to set out is a Hot Cocoa Bar. I fill it will different kinds of cocoa, mini-chocolate chips, peppermint sticks, straws, spoons, mini-marshmallow, teas, and large campfire marshmallows. I keep a heart-shaped cookie cutter so we can roll out the campfire marshmallows and cut them in a heart. They taste better when they are cut in the shape of a heart!
Christmas lights are also my favorite, especially on the trees. I love it early in the morning, when I’m the only one awake. I turn on the lights and have my quiet time with the Lord.Every time I turn on the lights, it’s a sweet reminder that He is the light of the world. And we are called out of darkness into the light….his wonderful light. And we get to declare his praises. I hope today you choose to declare His praises, if for no other reason than because are called out of darkness into the light.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
