Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but I don’t really like a bunch of “stuff” around my house. I’m slowly simplifying things. Before I buy something for my house I have to LOVE it.
I was shopping in Canton one day and found a crown that reminded me of the Bible study I was doing. It’s a study on being a Godly wife. The word crown is mentioned 62 times in the Bible, but one verse stands out above the rest.
Proverbs 12:4 says, “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.”
I don’t want to be just any wife, I want to be an EXCELLENT wife who is the crown of my husband. A crown is a precious treasure worn by royalty. The opposite would be the wife who causes shame. She is like rotted bones. Rotted bones are painful and would actually be hard for him to walk or even function. It would be like bone cancer. When I give in to my flesh and let my selfishness, envy, or pride take root and it can bring shame. My actions affect more than just myself, they reflect my husband as well.
