I’m so excited to show pictures of my kitchen. We still have a few things to do. The chandelier will be delivered in a few weeks and I still need to decorate, but for the most part we are finished.
I didn’t think we would ever get it done! It is by far the biggest project we’ve tackled.
(If you want to read Part 1 of the kitchen makeover and see my inspiration, you can read about it here.)
This is the before. Very yellow-y and country. Not my style anymore.
This is the AFTER:
I love how clean and bright everything turned out.
We kept our original cabinets because they were still in great condition. We raised the cabinets about 10 inches so we could put our microwave over our stove top and free up another area for a double oven.
The cabinets were painted Benjamin Moore’s Dove White. (Lots of work, but awesome results!) It’s amazing what a little paint can do! Hardware added to cabinets makes a huge difference, also.
We replaced everything (baseboards, trim, back door) except the pantry door, the floor and the stovetop.
I love the open shelf we added under the cabinets. It is one of the best decisions we made. I love having my dishes out in the open.
We ripped out the old oven and microwave and added a double oven. Be still my heart.
White subway tile was added for the backsplash. (Thanks to youtube, I’m awesome with grout.)
My husband rebuilt our island with bead board and trim. We also had it extended when they added the granite.
I painted stripes on white curtains to add some color to kitchen. I LOVE THEM! (Check out the post here.)
(This picture was added after the original posting, after chandelier arrived.)
My vintage school house light is one of my favorite things we added.
I’m so pleased with how everything turned out. I wanted to sit in my kitchen all day!
