My husband is an outdoor kinda guy!! He doesn’t care if it is cold! Me, on the other hand, not so much! I prefer to stay inside until spring! He knows my weakness and how to get me outside. . Fire in the fire pit, family time, and….. S’mores!! I’ve never met a s’more I didn’t like…but s’mores with Reese’s are my favorite!!! Peanut butter makes everything better! Yum!!! (It was cold, so the chocolate didn’t melt to perfection, but it was still delicious!)
I’ve had an abundance of cabbage from our veggie co-op lately. I hate to throw out vegetables, but I really don’t have a ton of ideas for cabbage until I found this Asian Salad. I made it twice in one week. Love it!!! (It was gone before I was able to take a picture. Sorry!)
3 T. brown sugar
2 t. soy sauce
1/4 c. veg. oil ( I used olive oil)
1 T. sesame oil (optional)
3 T. rice vinegar
dash of ginger
1 t. lime juice (optional)
Mix ingredients and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
2 boneless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
1 head of cabbage, chopped
fresh spinach, washed and torn into small pieces
any vegetables you want to add that will add color! I put yellow peppers, carrots, celery, and half of a cucumber.
Mix ingredients and serve with dressing. Sprinkle Lo Mein Noodles on the top.
This is a great way to get lots of fresh vegetable into your diet. You can’t mess this salad up. Anything goes!! My family loves this!
I read about a sweet, little girl the other day, Layla Grace. Her story is so sad. My heart breaks for her and her family. I can’t even imagine what they are going through. All I can do is pray!
I cried (actually sobbed) as I read the entry titled “Regrets.” Layla’s mom talked about how quiet her house is, how she can do laundry, dishes, cooking, and picking up the house without any interruptions. But she WANTS interruptions. She regrets ever saying things like “I can’t get anything done with the kids under my feet all day.” Now she wants kids under her feet.
My heart broke. How many times have I told my daughter that I’d play a game or read a book, after I finished the laundry? How many times have I told my husband I can’t sit and watch a movie with him…I have too much to do? Is my business consuming me? When will I get everything done so I can relax with my family. Never! There will always be things to do. So today, I pray for Layla Grace and her family, and I pray for me. I will pray that I will cherish every moment with my family today. I will read books with them and play games with them. My house will get cleaned, my laundry will be folded, but it will not take priority over my family, because I will have plenty of time to do that one day.
The snow we had last week was so much fun, but now that the snow has melted and we are left with just plain’ole cold weather….not so much fun! I’m ready for spring! I’m ready to work in the yard and plant my garden. Until then I’ll just drool over these cute spring things from Pottery Barn!
My daughter and I hosted a Valentine’s Tea Party for a few friends. (I always have grand visions of hosting tea parties, but don’t always follow through…a wonderful gift I’ve had lately!! It always helps to tell your 8 year old that you want to throw a party, because she will not let you forget about it!!! )
I’m so glad we followed through on this one. We had heart-shaped sandwiches, chocolate, cupcakes, cookies, and an afternoon of fun!
We have had record snowfall in Texas the past two days. I’ve never seen this much snow in my entire life! I’m more of a shorts and flip-flop kind of girl, but this snow has been beautiful. It was perfect! Our days have been filled with snowball fights, building snowmen, hot cocoa, and playing games by the fire.
I finally made this felt wreath. I bought the supplies about a month ago, I just kept procrastinating on sitting down to make it. I’m sooo glad I did…it is so cute, and soooo easy! My pictures don’t do it justice. (Hmm…maybe I should take a photography class and figure out how to take cute pics!)
I found the fabulous tutorial to make this wreath at The Idea Room.
I’ve been looking for a shelf for my daughter’s room to fill an empty wall. The other day, my husband was cleaning out the garage and I found this shelf. Just what I was looking for!!!
The shelf was sanded, primed, and spray painted.
