My girls have always helped me in the kitchen. I learned early on the as a mom, my job is to “work myself out of a job.” Are you helping your kids to become self-sufficient? My two older girls are fabulous cooks and my youngest is well on her way!!
When I was a mom of really young kiddos, sometimes I just wanted to cook by myself, because lets face it, I can get it done faster!!! But I knew in the long run, that if I take the time to teach them when they were young, I would reap the rewards when they are older.
As soon as my kids could stand on a chair (without falling off!), they would help in the kitchen. If I was doing something that didn’t need their help, then I would fill up the sink with soapy water, and they would “wash” some dishes for me. That way, I would know what they are doing, and they are “helping” mommy! Work together, and play together!!
Today, Tristyn and I made Baked Ziti. I’ll add the recipe later. It was yummy!!!
