Since our girls were little, we prayed for the man they would marry. Mark and I would pray almost every night for their husbands; pray that their parents would raise them up to be men who love the Lord and would prepare them to be a godly husband. We would pray that they would protect their heart and their body and keep it pure for their wife.
We knew the day would eventually come. They had been talking about it for a few months. Actually, when Tori told me that she and her boyfriend, Chad, were talking marriage, I said “no!” “He’s a great guy, but no. You haven’t dated long enough!!”
I mentioned to Mark that marriage was being talked about between the two of them, thinking he would freak out….well, he didn’t…AT ALL. He knew. So I began to really pray about it and the Lord began to change my heart.
From the first day Tori introduced Chad to our family, I liked him. He’s probably one of the kindest, most authentic person I’ve ever met, but you know what I really love, is how he loves my girl.
I love how he treats her.
I love how he’s protected his heart for his wife.
I love how he is a man after God’s own heart.
He reminds me so much of Mark.
A few weeks ago, he asked Mark for permission to marry our girl. He already had the ring. He’s actually had it for several months (six to be exact!!) He knew she was the girl a few months after they started dating.
Last weekend, he planned the most beautiful proposal I’ve ever seen. Tori was completely shocked.
These pictures are from the end of the proposal. He brought her to his church. He washed her feet as a symbol of how he is going to serve and love her just as Christ loves the church.
Then he proposed.

She said “YES!”
I’m thankful that we are able to see our prayers being answered. We have been praying for this young man for years before we even knew who he was. Isn’t that amazing!! It looks like we will finally have a son in our family. We couldn’t have asked for a better one!!
(I’ll post the video as soon as it’s ready!)
